About Dr. Thompson
Dr. Thompson graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 1975. Prior to that, he graduated from the Universityof Toronto (Victoria College) and going back even further he grew up in a small town called Mount PLeasant just south of Brantford Ontario. He started practice in Meaford immediately after he became a licenced chiropractor and within a year opened his second office in Clarksburg. He continues to practice in both locations some thirty six years later.

It has been said that the two things that change a person over time are the people we meet and the books that we read. In Dr. Thompson's case one of the individuals he met that influenced his professional life was J.Clay Thompson. While not a relative, Clay was a great influence both in terms of the management of cases and also in terms of the specific method of analysis and adjusting he developed. Prior to his passing, Clay stated that there were only a few individuals that he sanctioned to teach his body of work and James Thompson was one of those chosen for such an honour. To this day, James spends several weekends per year on chiropractic college campuses teaching the Thompson Technique.    Another individual whose work and ideals about the profession influenced Dr. Thompson greatly was Dr. Larry Webster. It was Dr. Webster who instilled in Dr. Thompson he passion for serving children with chiropractic methods. Dr. Webster passed away in 1997 and left as his legacy such valuable things as:

   1) his original and now universally accepted methods of dealing with the in utero constraint that can result in babies being in the breech position at birth,
   2) his original creation - the Webster infant toggle apparatus - which he designed and is to this day a most useful instrument to assist in the adjustment of infants and children, and
   3) his organization called the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

This association has grown much since Dr. Webster's passing and is in a leadership position in teaching chiropractors and chiropractic students around the world safe and effective methods of helping infants and children with chiropractic. Dr. Thompson is a past president of the I.C.P.A. and he travels to give lectures and instruct on the subject of children and chiropractic approximately 24 weekends per year. His schedule of speaking and more about children and chiropractic can be viewed at another web site www.icpa4kids.com. Depending on the season, the family is busy with a variety of activities ranging from caring for their home and gardens in Meaford to spending time at their cottage on the Bruce peninsula to traveling the world (often in association with Dr. Thompson's teaching) to spending time with senior family members.
